Basket made of strips of artificial leather paper

Basket of strips of artificial leather paper with rivets.

These leather paper strips / braiding strips can be found under the article Cch4498956

Guide step 1

Step 1.

Base: Cut 13 strips of artificial leather paper, each 30.5 cm long and 10 strips, each 21.5 cm long. Place two short strips facing each other and stick the 13 long strips between the two short strips with a little space - see illustration

Guide step 2

Step 2.

Weave the remaining 8 strips at a distance of about 1.5 cm between the strips - see illustration. Stick the ends tightly.

Guide step 3

Step 3.

Weave the remaining 8 strips at a distance of about 1.5 cm between the strips - see illustration. Stick the ends tightly.
For the top and bottom of the basket, cut two 105.5 cm strips of artificial leather paper. Also cut 30 strips of 16.5 cm each. Lay the two long strips parallel. Now stick the first of the 30 strips onto the two long strips. Measure 1.5 cm from the first glued strip and stick the next strip on it. Repeat these steps with all stripes. Now cut 32 strips, each 22.5 cm in length and cut off the ends diagonally. Lay these stripes in a cross shape on the vertical stripes. Then insert the rivets: start at the first vertical strip. Do not place rivets in the intersection of the last vertical strip. Do not cut protruding ends until the basket is completely assembled as they are needed for final assembly.

Guide step 4

Step 4.
Fold the woven center piece so that the ends are in the middle of one of the long sides. Mark the corners of the middle part with a pencil on the woven lower part - this creates a square of 30 x 20 cm.

Guide step 5

Step 5.
Cut another 105.5 cm long strip and two 50 cm strips of faux leather paper. Fold the two short strips into handles. Lay the long strip on the front edge of the weave and the handles on the back. Now attach both with rivets to the weaving.

Guide step 6

Step 6.
Fold the bottom of the weave. Make cuts in the corners to make them easier to fold. Fix the woven parts in the corners with rivets. The previously made pencil marks on the woven bottom help to identify the corners. Put a rivet on all sides in the middle.

Guide step 7

Step 7.

Fix the last woven section by placing the remaining rivets in the crossovers. Now cut off the protruding ends. Stick all ends firmly.

Guide step 8

Step 8.

Glue the remaining parts of the basket together.
